On May 17, the selection of 2023 Global Engagement Program (GEP) -- " Exploring Qinghai and Gansu province with Beidou UAV " international Summer Practice Camp was held at the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics. " Exploring Qinghai and Gansu province with Beidou UAV " International Summer Practice Camp is a university-level international social practice project initiated by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange. Liu Jian, Director of Global Communication Office of International Division, Zhan Xingqun, Vice President of School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Li Wei, director of student affairs, and several young teachers were invited as judges of this activity.
Liu Jian welcomed the students from the 15 colleges of the university who participated in the selection exercise. In 2018, Shanghai Jiao Tong University officially launched the " Global Engagement Program (GEP)", which consists of a series of practical projects. The program aims to reflect on and solve common problems facing the social and economic development of mankind. It aims to cultivate young students' sense of responsibility for the "community with a shared future for mankind" and their sense of national responsibility. And let young students provide Shanghai Jiaotong University wisdom and solutions to social problems.
Zhan Xingqun reviewed the first " Exploring Qinghai and Gansu province with Beidou UAV " project in 2021 and introduced the implementation results and awards. He encouraged everyone to fully show themselves in this year's selection, strengthen the ability of teamwork research, interdisciplinary and cross-cultural communication and learn something from this experience.
This activity made an overall introduction to the "Exploring Qinghai and Gansu province with Beidou UAV " project, and made clear the objectives, contents, activities and schedule of the project in 2023. Through the captain's self-promotion and team formation, there are finally five teams. Each group of students brainstormed according to the theme of " Exploring Qinghai and Gansu province with Beidou UAV ", and made specific summer survey tasks to demonstrate teamwork and creativity. Each team is scored by an expert judge.
During the one-hour heated discussion and planning, the students demonstrated outstanding interdisciplinary and cross-cultural teamwork ability and efficient execution ability. Finally, each group presented their presentation through posters, PPT and other forms to introduce the planning results and research plans, which left a deep impression on the expert judges.
At the end of the wonderful report, the college presented exquisite small gifts to each student and took a group photo.
In the early stage, the school promoted the " Exploring Qinghai and Gansu province with Beidou UAV " project to the students of the whole school through various forms such as information conference, electronic poster, wechat push, roll up display board, etc. More than 80 Chinese and foreign students applied for the project and more than 50 students entered the selection process. In the end, 32 students stood out in the selection. They will continue to receive basic experimental training and other activities in June, and go to Qinghai for a week-long summer social practice in July.
